Friday, February 18 – Acts 17:30

Feb 17, 2022

So having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now proclaiming to mankind that all people everywhere are to repent,

When was the last time you put something off? Maybe it was a task on your to-do list or a conversation you needed to have with a friend. There are plenty of reasons we put things off, we are busy, the task is out of our way, we forget, or something else. Sometimes in our faith walk, we put off the things God is calling us to do, or we put off investing in our relationship with Him. We may say, “When I get older, I will serve God. I just want to have fun right now” or “When I get less busy, I will take time to invest in my relationship with God.” We tack our relationship with God to the end of the priority list as something that we will get to when it is convenient. But as Paul preached to the people in this passage, the time is now. There is nothing more important than attending to the things of God today.

When we put off our relationship with God, we show that He is not a priority in our life. When we put off repentance for our sin, we show that we would rather hold onto our worldly rags instead of the riches of Christ. If you are a follower of Jesus, your life has been transformed and following Jesus is now your DNA, not something that’s in your way. Galatians 2:20 says “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” If you are not following Jesus, it is not too late. Pray and repent for your sin, trusting that Jesus desires to set you free from your sin and shame!

  • What are some ways we might put off a relationship with God?
  • How can you make repentance and growing in your faith a priority today?
  • Pray and thank God for changing your heart and making you clean by the work of Jesus.
