Friday, October 6 – Joshua 8:28

So Joshua burned Ai and made it a refuse heap forever, a desolation until this day.

Have you ever said, “I’ll believe it when I see it”? Some things seem so outlandish that they are hard for us to believe until we have physical evidence. Many times in following Christ, we want physical evidence and affirmation of what God has done. Thankfully, in Scripture, we often see accounts of God’s victory. The Bible is more than just stories that point us to morality; it contains accounts of God’s work in the world and His grand narrative throughout history. It is the testament and story of His victory over sin and death and reconciliation with His people.

Second Corinthians 2:14-15 says, “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us reveals the fragrance of the knowledge of Him in every place. For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.” When followers of Jesus are led by Him, we take part of this heritage and find victory in Him. We have seen evidence of who He is through His Word. We have been made right with Him. We don’t have to walk in fear or defeat when we share about Him with others. We have the evidence of His work and power in our lives and in His Word. We can stand on His promises, believing He is still in the business of victory for His glory!

  • How are you reminded of God’s victory regularly?
  • How does the victory of Christ impact your daily life? If it doesn’t, what needs to change?
  • Pray and ask God to remind you who He is through the evidence of His Word.
