Thursday, February 9 – Psalm 103:19

Feb 8, 2023

The Lord has established His throne in the heavens,

And His sovereignty rules over all.

We can only juggle so many things at one time before some tasks start to slip through the cracks. Our bodies wear out, and we mentally can’t keep up once we hit our limit. But God’s power is not from this world—it is from the heavens. His authority is eternal. His sovereignty rules over all things, and even with all the things that are overwhelming for us, nothing is too big or too small for Him to handle.

Many times, when we come to a moment when we have overloaded our schedules or enter a season where even small things are overwhelming, we can feel defeated and become frustrated about all the things we can’t handle. Praise God, the impossible standard we set for ourselves is not one He places on us. He rules over all things; everything is under His care. The question is, Will we recognize His sovereignty or not? Like children getting frustrated about a task but determined to do it themselves instead of asking for help, often we hold onto perceived control until we can’t and all that we are juggling drops. We can and should serve the Lord with diligence in all that we do while also trusting His sovereignty. We can recognize how He is at work, equipping us for both small and large things. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. We can trust Him with everything we do.

  • When have you tried to juggle too many things in life?
  • How can you trust God’s sovereignty in your everyday life?
  • Pray that God would open your eyes to His sovereignty in the small and big things in your life.
