Thursday, January 25 – John 4:24
“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
When people cook or create a recipe, they may say something like, “This needs a little something.” They can tell by tasting the dish that it needs some kind of seasoning or other additional ingredient to enhance the flavor, but they are not sure what yet. Before coming to Christ, all people are searching for that “something” to fill their souls. We have all looked for that fulfillment in different ways, but only He can satisfy our souls.
He is worthy of worship. He is worthy of our praise and adoration. Jesus’s words to the woman at the well remind us that it is not only important that we worship, it matters how we worship as well. Romans 12:1 says, “Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.” Worship begins with our surrender to God. When this happens, we worship in spirit and truth.
How would your life look different if you constantly worshiped God this way? What would change if you remembered your life is not your own but is meant to glorify Him in all things? This sounds daunting and overwhelming, but it is as simple as being honest with God about your brokenness and asking Him to take over. Surrender is seeking Him in spirit and truth.
- What would change in your life if you daily surrendered to God?
- What are some things you need to be honest with God about now?
- Pray and surrender yourself and your day to God.
