Wednesday, November 16 – Lamentations 3:22-23

Nov 15, 2022

The Lord’s acts of mercy indeed do not end, for His compassions do not fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.

If you made a list of things that never end, ironically, the list would end quickly. When we look at buying things, we must look at their expiration date or durability to see if they will be worth our investment. We expect things to wear out, recognizing that it is a part of living in this world. The things that seem to be unending are our needs: hunger, thirst, and so much more. In this helpless condition, praise God for His hope.

He is unchanging and never-failing. His acts of mercy do not end. He is our living water (see John 4:14). He is our bread of life (see John 6:35). In Christ, we have new morning mercies, unfailing compassion, abundant hope, and true satisfaction for our souls.

May we never be fooled, looking for long-term solutions in things that were never meant to truly satisfy us. In grief or loneliness, it is easy to try and find the fastest solution. But in Christ, we are filled up through time in the Word, community, and prayer. In this, we see that He is our only hope and the only One to make lasting change and fulfillment in our lives.

  • When is it hard for you to remember the faithfulness of God?
  • What are some short-term solutions you have tried to fix some of your problems in life?
  • Pray and ask God to remind you who He is and how He truly satisfies.
