Friday, March 24 – Romans 11:33

Mar 23, 2023

Oh, the depth of the riches, both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!

One of the trademarks of a preschooler is a constant refrain of the question “Why?” With each answer you give, the question of why follows. If you play the game long enough, it gets more to find answers for this seemingly simple question. Because our God is infinite, there are an infinite number of things that we have to learn about Him. His ways are truly unsearchable and unfathomable to us. No matter how many times we ask why, we will never fully uncover the depth of His wisdom and knowledge.

God is gracious to show us who He is through His Word and give us evidence of who He is in creation. Still there will be questions we have that won’t always feel resolved, but our God is trustworthy. Like a child asking why, we will have to accept at some point that our study of the world can never completely tell us about who He is. But we do not need to give up on our search for truth just because the answers are not easy—we can and should spend our whole lives learning who He is through His Word and through the evidence of creation. There will be many days with more questions than answers, but the journey and the struggle is always worth it when we remember how amazing God is.

  • When was a moment when you studied something that left you with a lot of questions in your faith?
  • How does knowing God is full of wisdom and knowledge help you trust Him with the questions you have?
  • Pray and tell God about the times you have struggled with questions. Praise Him that He is full of wisdom and knowledge and completely trustworthy.
