Tuesday, February 21 – Revelation 4:8

Feb 20, 2023

And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say,

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.”

One of the small annoyances in life is when an unwanted song or jingle gets stuck in your head. Sometimes it feels like no matter what you do, you can’t escape the repeating lines in your mind. Often it is the melody or rhyme that is so catchy and before we know it, it’s been a song we’ve been singing all day long. In today’s passage, the creatures described also had a song on repeat, but for better reason that just a catchy tune. The truth in these verses was repeated over and over, not because it was stuck in their heads, but because it was so true that the fullness of the message could only be captured in repetition.

If it is not a song in our heads, it is often negative self-talk that we allow to stir and repeat in our minds. What would our lives look like if we spent day and night meditating on who God is, reminding ourselves each morning it is the Lord that makes us rise, that He is above even time itself. As we work, we are reminded He has created us to glorify Him in all we do. As we wind down for the day, we can remember that He never needs to rest because He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. When we fix our eyes on Him, we see the purpose of our days and our lives more clearly. He is Holy and that changes everything. How would your life change if you had the holiness of God stuck in your head?

  • What are some thoughts that seem to be constantly in your mind?
  • How might you spend more time focusing on God’s holiness?
  • Pray the truth of this verse: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.”
