Wednesday, March 15 – Colossians 3:17

Mar 14, 2023

Whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

Many jobs require uniforms. One purpose of uniforms is to let people know who is representing the company at any given time. In theory, when the uniforms are on, employees carry themselves differently. If the person is an employee of a restaurant, instead of walking into the restaurant looking to be served, he or she comes ready to represent the company in the way he or she serves the customers. These uniforms set employees apart to help the customers recognize them and to remind the employees of the greater team they represent when conducting themselves during their shifts.

When we consider what it would look like to do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, there should be a different way we would conduct ourselves. What we do for entertainment, how we conduct ourselves on social media, or how we respond in a frustrating moment will all change if we continuously remember the One we want to reflect. When we forget who we represent as we go about our day, our conduct easily shifts to only being kind, grateful, or patient on our timing and to those we think deserve it. Followers of Jesus never take off their “uniforms.” We represent Him in all things because our lives are now hidden in Him. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we can live anchored in our calling, using every moment as an opportunity to walk with Jesus and live in gratitude for all He has done for us.

  • Where do you find it most difficult to do everything in the name of Jesus?
  • How well do you represent Jesus on social media, at work, at home, at church, or with your peers?
  • Pray and tell God about the areas you struggle to do everything in His name and ask Him to transform your heart.
