Thursday, January 12 – 2 Timothy 3:16

Jan 11, 2023

All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness.

When working on a house project, we need a collection of tools. No one tool can fulfill every function we need. Even multifaceted tools like a hammer or drill can only get us so far before we need to grab another tool to get the job done. In God’s Word we find more than a multifaceted tool, we find a unified purpose and design that can be used for so many different things we face in life. We might be tempted think that the Bible doesn’t speak to the things we face or is irrelevant to the decisions we make, but when we look at what God’s Word says about itself, we see that all these ideas are not true. The Word of God is beneficial, it can be used effectively for our correction, and it is relevant to how we grow into the likeness of Christ. It fulfills all these purposes because it comes from God Himself, who knows all our needs and meets us in them.

The next time you struggle to open your Bible to read God’s Word, remember the value it has in your life. God has promised to use His Word to make us more and more like His Son until we are finally united with Him forever.

  • When have you received correction from the Word? What was that like?
  • Who do you know that shows you what it means to value God’s Word? How might you encourage them by sharing this with them?
  • Pray and thank God for those in your life that show you the value of God’s Word. Ask Him to help you do the same for others.
