Thursday, May 4 – Colossians 2:13
And when you were dead in your wrongdoings and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our wrongdoings.
Product marketing focuses on what a product can do for you, promising certain results or changes. Dietary supplements promise weight loss, cleaning products promise to rid spaces of viruses and bacteria, and the list could go on. Sometimes we are impressed with a product and the way it fulfills what it promised. Other times those promises don’t bring the results we hoped for, leaving us disappointed and seeking another way to solve our problem. Thankfully, we can trust that God always keeps His promises.
God’s greatest promise has been fulfilled in the person and work of Jesus. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus brought us life and forgiveness for our sins in our brokenness. Sometimes we hear this truth and measure it by the way we feel. We carry shame, so we don’t remember Jesus’s forgiveness over us. We still feel the pull of sin, so we respond like we are still bound to it. But the promises that come through Jesus do not depend on our circumstances or feelings. They are realities on our darkest days and brightest days. Anyone found in Christ is alive and has been made right with the Creator God. You are free from the bondage of sin, and you have a purpose to live and share this love and mercy with others.
- Do you live like you have been made alive in Christ? Why or why not?
- What are some things that cause you to lose sight of the forgiveness and freedom you have in Jesus?
- Pray and ask God to help you remember who you are in Him.
